Infant Baptism (Infant to 6 years old)
If you desire to have your child baptized or you are expecting and would like to prepare for your child’s Baptism before his or her arrival, this is a time to rejoice! We at SS. Simon and Jude Cathedral look forward to assisting you in preparing your child for their first step in his/her life in Christ.
In scripture Jesus proclaims, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”(Matthew 19:14) Baptism washes away what’s known as “original sin” and is the means by which we are made God’s own children.
If your child is 6 or younger we have a baptism program that consists of 2 sessions and both parents and godparents (if they live in town) are required to attend both sessions.
Baptism for children age 7 or older we have a special process in which they prepare to receive baptism known as “RCIA for Children”. The Church views anyone older than 7 as and adult, sacramentally speaking. Each child will be prepared in their respective age groups. (See below)

Do I have to be registered as a parishoner?
We strongly encourage you to become a part of our parish but, it is not required, we encourage you to become a part of our parish family by registering. Becoming registered and being an active, contributing parishioner is part of living out our baptismal call to be a part of the parish family “God’s family”. Not being registered will not delay your child’s baptism we can still move forward while becoming a new parish family member.
What if I'm registered as a parishoner at another parish?
We would need a letter of permission from your pastor saying that you have permission to have your child baptized here.
Do I have to pre-register for baptism classes?
No, pre-registration is required just show up to the 1st session. We do start exactly at 6:30pm, so please make sure to arrive early enough.
