Bereavement Support Apostolate
This apostolate group is there for support of families or individuals who have lost a loved one.
The core-support group meets once a month, the last Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. in the parish office conference room to support those who are grieving. There is a special invitation to these meetings given to those who have recently lost a loved one, and an open invitation in the church bulletin for all who need additional help to cope with grieving.
After a funeral there are follow up contact calls for one month with the grieving family.
The core group is also responsible for preparing for an annual Memorial Mass to remember all our dear ones- parishioners and friends of parishioners, who have passed way. Additionally, there is a special candle-lighting to remember those who passed in the current year.
This apostolate also has members who provide assistance by preparing food for receptions after funerals. (By request of family- stipend by agreement)
This is a very rewarding ministry. You are in touch with people at a time of need, and they are very grateful.
