As much as I’d like to think I was a good Catholic and felt close to our Lord, it was nothing compared to how I feel now because of signing up for weekly Adoration. After I retired I felt a calling from the Lord to do more. I got involved in prayer groups and organizations but found that all I was doing was wearing myself out. I have to say, I learned so much about the church and about saints. It augmented my knowledge which I continue to do. Eventually, I had to cut some things loose because it was too much.
One Sunday at Mass Fr. Lankeit announced we were going to start 24/7 Adoration here at the Cathedral. I had friends that had been adoring for almost 2 years prior but never heard them talk about the benefits of that one hour with the Lord. For some reason I knew I had to sign up. It has been three years since I first signed up and it's been the best 3 years of my life. My relationship with the Lord has become very important to me. I ‘ve captured my love of the Lord and his Mother I had when I was a child. It has become a deep part of my prayer life and without it I would feel empty. We all have aches, and sitting with Him for just one hour a week helps direct them to the only One who can fill them. If you have never considered signing up for a Holy Hour at our parish I want to encourage you to do so now. You’re life, like mine, will be changed forever.
